Preaching: Meekness Is Not Weakness
In our diverse journeys – spanning different backgrounds, experiences, and upbringings – we find common ground in our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. This shared belief calls us not only to look after our own interests but also to consider the well-being of others actively.
If there is any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Embracing meekness doesn’t mean surrendering our strength but channeling it into humility and the service of others, much like Christ. Jesus, though divine, did not cling to His equality with God but emptied Himself, taking the very nature of a servant. He walked among us, not flaunting His status but forsaking it, embodying true humility and obedience, even to the extent of dying on the cross.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
This divine paradigm of humility is not just for Christ but is a calling for us all, particularly evident in my experience working with fellow Christian entrepreneurs through Gatekeepers. Here, irrespective of worldly titles or social stature, we sit as equals, sharing insights, offering guidance, and supporting each other genuinely.
This engagement reinforces the practice of humility – not just externally, but at the core of our being. It is an honor to serve and grow alongside such dedicated individuals, reminding us that in God’s eyes, we are all equally valuable, and our true strength is demonstrated through our humble service to one another.
