
Father’s Responsibilities
What God says about the the responsibilities of a father.
2 Corinthians 3:2-3 – Exemplify a good life.
“You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.”
Proverbs 22:6 – Be your child’s first truthful teacher.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
1 Timothy 5:8 – Faithfully provide for your family.
“But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 – Encourage and comfort them
“As you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.”
Proverbs 13:24 – Discipline Carefully
“He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.”
Ephesians 6:4 – Not provoking him to anger.
“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”
Jeremiah 3:15 – He’s a shepherd of their heart
“And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 – Walk with and pour into them
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
